Project Overview
AR Memory Game - Interactive Branded Experience
Scope of Work:
The AR Memory Game project aimed to create an engaging augmented reality (AR) experience that combines brand promotion with gamification. Designed as a virtual memory-matching game, it leverages 3D design and web-based AR to showcase commercial partners’ brands while entertaining users. Below is a breakdown of the key stages and tasks involved:
1. Conceptualization and Planning:
- Collaborated with stakeholders to define the project goals:
- Brand Engagement: Highlight partner brands through interactive 3D cards.
- Gamification: Create a time-based memory game to encourage user participation.
- Accessibility: Develop a Web AR experience for easy access across devices without app downloads.
- Defined the game mechanics:
- 6 pairs of branded cards to be matched within 1 minute.
- A competitive leaderboard system where the fastest time wins.
2. 3D Design and Animation:
- 3D Modeling & Texturing:
- Designed custom 3D cards in Blender, incorporating logos and branding elements of commercial partners.
- Applied textures and materials to ensure visual consistency with brand guidelines (RGB colors, logos, etc.).
- Animations:
- Created card-flip animations in Blender to simulate realistic interactions (e.g., flipping, highlighting on selection).
- Optimized animations for smooth performance in Web AR.
3. Web AR Development with Onirix:
- Template Customization:
- Logic and Interaction:
- Modified the template’s codebase (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to implement:
- Timer System: 1-minute countdown with visual feedback.
- Card-Matching Logic: Detection of paired cards and score tracking.
- Leaderboard: Display of the fastest completion times.
- Integrated onboarding screens to explain game rules and controls.
- Branding Integration:
- Applied the company’s visual identity (colors, logos, typography) to the UI/UX.
- Ensured compliance with brand guidelines across all elements.
4. Testing and Optimization:
- Functional Testing:
- Verified card interactions (flip, match, reset) across multiple devices.
- Tested the timer and leaderboard logic for accuracy.
- Performance Optimization:
- Reduced 3D model file sizes for faster loading in Web AR.
- Ensured compatibility with mobile browsers (iOS Safari, Android Chrome).
- User Experience Testing:
- Gathered feedback to refine onboarding clarity and game responsiveness.
5. Deployment and Launch:
- Published the experience on Onirix’s Web AR platform, ensuring accessibility via QR code or direct link.
- Provided documentation for stakeholders to share the game at events, on social media, or embedded in websites.
- Monitored performance post-launch to address any bugs or user-reported issues.
Key Achievements:
- Delivered a branded AR game that merges entertainment with partner promotion, enhancing user engagement.
- Successfully customized a pre-built template to reduce development time while maintaining uniqueness.
- Demonstrated expertise in 3D design (Blender), Web AR development (Onirix), and frontend logic (HTML/CSS/JS).
